KOLHAPUR, 8 September 2010: “The Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi on its journey across the country along with multimedia team of Marwah Studios has reached Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The baton was received by renowned shooter Tejaswini Sawant. The ace shooter became the first Batonbearer in Kolhapur.” Informed Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios

Entering the state through picturesque Western Ghats, the relay drove through scenic locales. The convoy faced regular spells of rainfall along the route but that failed to deter the spirit and enthusiasm of the participants. The baton visited a village named Kagal where the relay started. During the relay, the baton was taken on a bullock cart.

Reaching Kolhapur, International shooter Tejeswini Sawant became the first Batonbearer of the day. Exited children lined up along the 10 kilometre long relay route, dancing to the beats of ‘Manjeeras’ and ‘Leijhems’. Enthusiasm among the people of Kolhapur was exceptional.

Earlier in the day, the convoy left from Panaji and visited office of The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Sports Authority of Goa, Bal Bhawan at Mapusa, State Centre of Excellence at Peddem and Martyrs Memorial at Patradevi. The baton received a warm welcome at each of the stoppages with live music bands and NCC Cadets.
