Strange as it may seem the Africans-nationals with the exception of South Africans, have not yet started making films.The members of the elite group of the heads of African Missions in India have now decided to take necessary steps to correct this situation. The chairman of this group recently requested the outgoing high commissioner of Uganda in India Mr. Joseph Tomusange, to get in touch with the Director of the World renowned Asian Academy Of Film & Television Prof. Sandeep Marwah for seeking his guidance in film-making in various counteries of Africa. The hon’ ble high commissioner of Uganda in India visited Marwah Studios to examine this facility and to hold discussions with Prof. Sandeep Marwah. Later addressing the students of Asian Academy Of Film & Television Mr Joseph Tomusange lamented that Africans are missing the opportunity of using the powerful medium of films & television for building happy , sane and prosperous society.he said that Uganda is called the ’ Pearl Of Africa’ . Describing his country as small but beautiful, he said that Uganda offers excellent locales for the films and television programmes .The high commissioner mentioned that the Indian had been helping in the the development of uganda eversince the eighteenth century.He added that india ranks third amongst his country’ s bussiness partners. Answering questions put to him by the students he confirmed that Indian films are popular in Uganda. Mr. Joseph Tomusange hoped that Asian Academy of Film & Television would soon reach out to the African countries in a big way and help their nationals to get into making of films. The elite group of the heads of African Missions in India would be continuing the dialogue on this subject in right earnest.
