“India is the largest film producing country in the world. We make approx 900 films in 28 official languages but the sad part is that film Industry is effected by piracy” said Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios and Director of Asian Academy of Film And Television as the opening remark of the second session of seminar on ‘Anti Piracy Initiatives and Indian Film & TV Industry’.
The seminar was organized by Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) under the leadership of Lalit Bhasin and supported by Indo American Chamber of Commerece( IACC) which was inaugurated by Smt. Ambika Soni Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India on the same morning at Hotel Lalit in New Delhi
“We have lost approx Rs.4400 crores as revenue and 5,70,000 jobs last year because of Pricy.600 million DVDs are sold in duplicate whereas the original sales is 20 million DVDs. Though 100 raids have been conducted, 110 arrests have been made, 400000 DVDs have been confiscated, and around 2000 dealers have been identified in this wrong business but still it is just the sip of the cup.” informed Sandeep Marwah.
